Gentlemen, I think I have found the smoking gun!!!

http://snaps.lumra.com/~Debra_Lafave_topless_(exclusive)_

Naughty naughty tjp, and on family safe snaps too!!! ;D

2008-06-29 11:45:34 EST

if something works fine, don't fuck it up. all these sites?! why? ridiculous

2008-06-27 10:56:37 EST

Sorry Zeus, should have posted THAT one first... didn't think about a disclaimer until after I was done, though... but, nevertheless, internetgaming.lumra.com would be a better evolution of frequent-fliers.lumra.com. That would be better than my earlier idea.

2008-06-27 00:53:13 EST

"So, begin here, and not at the last comment"...........Too late cornman, TOO LATE!!

;-)

I think frequent fliers should be changed to internetgaming.lumra.com so we can attract all sorts of geeks, not just us geriatric geeks who pretend to be spitfire pilots!

And cornman, what are you doing looking at Lumrax? You're 17!!!!!!

2008-06-27 00:41:41 EST

See? And here's a great example of how the factionalized model works well for Lumrax:

"I never considered myself an ass-man but seeing all these lovely butts on one site and in one place... I AM AN ASS-MAN!" -LumraBoy

2008-06-27 00:17:32 EST

alright, I suppose I'll start in on Lumrax...

I frequent Lumrax, probably more than I should, so I have a pretty solid idea of what it's like over there. Lumrax is much less about creating a community than Lumra is. Lumrax is pretty much about getting the pictures to the individual users for their individual viewing and "enjoyment." So, in my opinion, the factionalized many-.lumra.com-model works well for Lumrax, while working horribly for Lumra. Still, I think that a few changes might streamline it and make it a little more comprehensive.

asian-beauties.lumrax.com has 500+ pics, and asian-nude.lumrax.com also has 500+. These sites should clearly be combined into one, which would match the model of chocolate-nude.lumrax.com and latinas.lumrax.com, among others. I think that these sites should be named in a more homogeneous manner, i.e.

latina.lumrax.com

ebony.lumrax.com

asian.lumrax.com

readhead.lumrax.com

xmas-beauties.lumrax.com can go. This site serves no real purpose.

Perhaps, instead of ramsey's suggestion of a gay.lumrax.com, we should have a male.lumrax.com, which has a little bit more vagueness. That way it doesn't have to be gay, it would just be a place for the photos that feature males.

ratemypussy.lumrax.com should be renamed to something more tactful, like closeups.lumra.com, or something similar to that.

beauties.lumrax.com absolutely has to stay, it has the most pics (outside of xxx.lumrax.com, but most of those were ported over from the old xxx.snaps.com.).

topless.lumra.com and nude.lumra.com both have 2000+ pics, which could complicate this idea: since they are so very similar in the subject matter and style of the photos, I think that they should be merged and topless counted under nude. I don't really feel that topless is a special enough niche to warrant its own site, but I would (attempt to) check with the Lumrax regulars on that one.

All of the below sites should stay as they are, because of their adequate or high photo count and ...

2008-06-27 00:17:01 EST

... their function as a suitable niche:

hairy-nude.lumrax.com (possibly name change)

shemale.lumrax.com

beauties.lumrax.com

xxx.lumrax.com

the-butt-site.lumrax.com

bj.lumrax.com

big-boobs.lumrax.com

milf.lumrax.com

upskirt.lumrax.com

forum.lumrax.com is not very active at all, but it does serve as (as far as I know) the only place on Lumrax to post a tagline, so it should most likely be kept.

Sorry if I offended anyone by posting this here; I realize that it is not family-friendly or sometimes even in good taste, but it is a part of the whole tjp network and I thought I should post what I think about that too.

2008-06-26 23:13:37 EST

sorry Repub, but I do see what you're saying. I just suggested soapbox because I thought I wouldn't want politics just to be crowded with H42-type stuff. I agree that we need someone to sort between the sites. Perhaps the hardcore posters would respect a guideline of "post a little on Snaps, but if you desire to go overboard, do it on soapbox. But there I go with my social engineering wishes again... anyway, I think that what needs to really be done is to explore some of these ideas that we've come up with. too bad we don't have a tjp bell to ring! ;)

2008-06-26 22:56:16 EST

God Damn it, cornman! I'm trying to be right, and you're being all reasonable, or whatever.

H42 did make a comment on bellyful's thread, which was weird. FIB makes a normal comment once in a while as well. H42 has been pretty good about keeping to politics, and we all appreciate it. the simple fact is that none of the sites have the same traffic that we see on snaps. If it is an issue that we really want to be out there, we put it on snaps. It won't be moved unless it gets 100 comments, anyway. (blazius?....) Someone needs to be sorting between the sites, whether the sites number 10 or 3.

2008-06-26 22:40:26 EST

Anyone who read it all, post your address and I'll send you a trophy!

Also, at first I'd be tempted to agree with you about H42, Repub, but I think the situation could be different. He hasn't posted any trolling-esque stuff in a while, and I have noticed some real, humanoid comments from him on other posts. I think he could be persuaded to post in soapbox. I also believe that he was persuaded to start posting in politics, or at least, his posts were moved there. I think there's a chance that he and others who have a (even if small) human side could be persuaded to post on soapbox for the good of the overall community. But, it would be something that really could only be tested one way.

I like the way the NSFW has turned out too, I just don't want to see anything really change in regular snaps. If that becomes too strictly safe, I think it would be a turn for the worse. I'd like to keep the feel and the style of regular snaps the same as it was when I first joined, more or less. But I agree that NSFW has become a nice place, free of Lumrax drivel, for pics that are hard to accommodate.

2008-06-26 22:22:22 EST

goodness gracious, cornman! alan shore would be proud! ;D

2008-06-26 22:11:20 EST

Well reasoned argument, C10.

2008-06-26 22:07:41 EST

You are a gentleman, and a scholar, C10. You've put some thought into this. Here is the points where I differ.

-H42 accepts no bounderies. he uses sockpuppets and possibly strawmen to attempt to make his points. his sockpuppetry has to be curtailed. This makes the pending system pointless. In turn, that makes soapox.lumra pointless as well.

-NSFW has become a repository for nude pictures. The recent posts have been artistic, and tasteful. It's also a place that has been untouched by the idiots that frequent the x side. For that I am thankful. The site rules say family safe pictures, but so far most things have been tolerated. Teleport seems to be the right choice for the job. I don't want to see any of that change

2008-06-26 21:26:38 EST

NOTE: I posted these in reverse order, so that you may actually read them top to bottom, instead of skipping around. So, begin here, and not at the last comment.

2008-06-26 21:25:56 EST

I think that the current system needs an inclusive overhaul to not only restructure it but also better mesh the recent changes. I think that user input should be the key factor in deciding any major changes.

The structure should be as follows:

snaps.lumra.com should stay the way it is. most of nsfw.lumra.com should be merged back into snaps.lumra.com, and snaps should not be safe for work. perhaps NSFW should remain as a repository for pictures that exhibit nudity in a comedic, rather than sexual or pornographic, way, or similar material. I think that snaps.lumra.com, hailed as "The classic SNAPS," should remain the way it has been. It is the foundation and mainstay of the entire Lumra network, and it should be free of the control and guidelines set by the recent changes and simply allowed to be run, formed, and evolved by the members.

safe.lumra.com and cutest.lumra.com should be merged. Their combined site transit and similar photo material will make for a fit combination.

Politics.lumra.com and election2008.lumra.com should be combined, naturally. Now for the issue of firearms.lumra.com:

Is creating a whole separate site the best way to rid classic Snaps of trolling-esque posts like Hermione's? I propose the creation of soapbox.lumra.com, which will be closely allied with politics.lumra.com (including the former 2008 elections photos), for the type of posts that plagued Snaps not long ago. Let politics.lumra.com remain for the sensible, rational, and purely political discussion, and let soapbox.lumra.com host the loud outspokenness of posts like Hermione's Most Fundamental of Rights series. Now, back to firearms.lumra.com: If this can turn into an actual site with regular traffic and merit, perhaps it should be kept. But, if it was created only to hold Hermione, or if it turns out to be a fad and becomes dead soon, let it go as unnecessary.

xmas.lumra.com and halloween.lumra.com should be terminated. snaps.lumra.com can host holiday-related photos when ...

2008-06-26 21:25:43 EST

... they are posted. After all, a supermarket doesn't open a separate store when the Holiday Season rolls along; it fills its shelves with things related to that season.

wallpapers.lumra.com should remain. It doesn't get a lot of traffic, but it has a unique collection of photos and does receive regular traffic. cars.lumra.com is very similar. also, interest in automobiles is not a one-time fad-like thing: many people share that interest. Even if cars.lumra.com is slow now, it has the potential to attract new members with its solid base. Advertised correctly, it could prove a useful and successful site in the future.

forum.lumra.com should absolutely stay; it has been a mainstay of the site as well, and receives fairly heavy traffic.

quiz.lumra.com should stay. At first I had thought that the quiz thing would be a fad, but it appears to have garnished lasting interest in some Lumra members. quiz.lumra.com should stay, but perhaps the occasional quiz of wide popular interest should be posted in snaps.lumra.com.

uk, deutsch, and canada.lumra.com: From what I can see, these sites receive very little traffic (deutsch.lumra.com receives pretty much none,) and they do not appear to offer anything to the overall Lumra network. This is tied in to what some others have been saying: why keep these few discussions apart, when they could be with everything in classic Snaps?

frequent-fliers.lumra.com is a niche, but it appears to serve a satisfactory purpose for the current Lumra community. perhaps the description should be changed to be ambiguous; including all sorts of aeronautical interests instead of only flight simulators, but then again, that would tempt people to post EVERYTHING related to airborne mobility there, and classic Snaps would lose more potential, so perhaps it is not a good idea.

A community does not thrive by taking its members, sorting them according to interest, and confining them to their own little bubble. Of course, Lumra members are not ...

2008-06-26 21:25:30 EST

... confined to any sites, but it is much more conducive to building a community to have people together, conversing about a variety of things, than it is to separate them all. If you declare your major as Political Science in college, you are not grouped with a bunch of poli sci students and you do not learn only poli sci. You are a part of the school as a whole; you intermingle with members who have different and varied interests, and you take classes in subjects other than poli sci. A community cannot be built here on Lumra by dividing everything up. Separate sites need to serve a definitive purpose, and should be created ambiguously to be able to accommodate a variety of material, (i.e. soapbox.lumra.com instead of firearms.lumra.com.) The system NEEDS reform, as that will keep the old members, attract new members, and cause them to stay as well.

I also have thoughts about Lumrax, but I think I'll post all of this first and then continue on with that. Sorry this is so long, but I think it is important and pressing, and I figured I would offer my 2(00000000) cents worth.

2008-06-26 21:02:19 EST

That's funny blaz. We bitch about it , and he separates the pics. Now we are bitching about him separating the pics. Oh the folly!

2008-06-26 20:35:55 EST

I agree with zeus, this place has become too fragmented to enjoy anymore. It's difficult to enjoy this place as it used to be because the topics and conversations are so scattered and it takes a lot of effort to keep up on all the topics spread throughout the different sites.

As zeus said, it was nice to be able to pop into Snaps and have all the activity happening in one place, now it's spread throughout an endless maze. Maybe if people wouldn't have bitched so much about creating sites so that Politics, Firearms, and other topics wouldn't clutter up Snaps, this stupidity wouldn't have happened.

TJP has created a Lumra monster that has gotten out of hand, and I believe the monster has consumed his ability to keep this place user-friendly.

2008-06-26 20:01:50 EST

That makes sense, Ramsey. I don't know how the google ads work, but I assume it is calculated by the number of hits. It shouldn't matter how many sites he has. The page views is what probably counts.

I would guess that beauties is his bread-and-butter. he probably doesn't want to mess with that too much. When someone complains about the 14 year-old girls, and the lurkers salivating over them then he will remove it. The rest is just hits on a counter.

2008-06-26 19:07:03 EST

Personally I think there should be 3 sites on the lumra side: Safe, Not Safe and Politics.

On the lumrax side: Nude (topless included), Beauties, XXX, Gay (for the ratemywillie fans) and a return of Xtreme for the really out there posters. Maybe even move the non-nude beauties back to the lumra side.

2008-06-26 18:31:41 EST

TJP, Thanks for the explanation.

I paid my sponsorship because I like the site, the people and the diversity. But most of all because it was different and gave me a chance to share the interesting pictures I liked.

I do not use the public internet at work, and I do not allow my kids to use the "open" internet at home.

flikr, pixdaus, can handle the real world. It's a bit sad that you and/or your system for ads can not.

It's your site, you can do what you want, you had the chance to be different.....

Good luck my friend.

2008-06-26 18:14:39 EST

yes, I agree that all these recent, rapid changes need to come under one umbrella and be streamlined together, as the site will benefit greatly as a whole as the result.

2008-06-26 16:07:07 EST

i am finding this very humorous! sadly, the truth is, we have to go out of our way to enjoy the site. there must be a better way, dear tjp.

and please tell google adsense visitor45 says they can shove their inane policies up their asshole. they don't seem to understand that there are only about 25 users here (maybe less) and we are trying to enjoy this site for pete's dragon!

if google adsense is bringing you new members, then they have a point. if not, well... ;)

2008-06-26 15:14:39 EST

I don't think it is confusing. I would say that elections should be merged with politics, and guns should be merged with nsfw. The safe site should be merged with snaps, because snaps is safe now. The report it feature should work, or more people should use it when something doesn't belong in that category. Maybe there should be someone that can mark the incorrect pics as being in the wrong category for review by the site admin.

just a suggestion

2008-06-26 14:26:52 EST

JC, you are indeed a gentleman and put your point very succinctly, however I would like to add that its not you. This site is becoming a maze and its use as a relaxing place to 'pop into' has passed. There not enough users to support the diversity and conversation is surviving only by the efforts of the few. I will select two colleagues from around the country to join anonymously. if we all did that, some more traffic may occur.

2008-06-26 14:23:09 EST

I would like to say one more thing here if I may. I am finding snaps more and more confusing, this is probably largely due to my cognitive functions getting worse lately, but also I get the feeling that many users here are confused by the large number of sites and exactly what goes where.

tjp, I would ask you try to publish some advice/rules as to what is what (and make it clear, not ambiguous ), and please keep in mind some of us, or maybe just me, struggle with over complexity and would be grateful for a clear way to use this site.

Moan over :)

2008-06-26 14:16:48 EST

btz, you can see nipples at the beach near you!?!

Can I come visit :)

2008-06-26 14:02:09 EST

It has a very little to do with morality, btz. Let me quote the official source (policy clarification from google adsense):

"Our policy regarding adult/mature content may include any material that is

not appropriate for all audiences. While this obviously includes full

nudity or sexual activity, it may also include textually explicit sexual

content, some treatments of topics such as sexual health and sex tips, and

image or video content containing lewd or provocative poses, strategically

covered nudity, see-through or sheer clothing, and close-ups of breasts,

butts, or crotches.

While it's not a sure test, we sometimes suggest that publishers ask

themselves the following questions to determine if content is family-safe:

Would I be comfortable viewing this content with my parents or children in

the same room? Would I feel comfortable viewing this content if my boss

walked up behind me while I had this content on my screen? If the answer

to either of these questions is no, then it is likely that some

advertisers would not be comfortable showing their ads on such content and

we might consider it mature."

2008-06-26 13:27:49 EST

So in that case tjp the following thing are not family safe,

The beach

Bare legs

Cleavage

Anything from daily news papers

Females

Hot dogs

PG films

Industrial warning signs, etc, etc

wtf does family safe mean, child safe? I have a 7 and 5 year old and they are not going to be hurt by any of the snap below. We live next to a beach in a family resort in France. Maybe we have to stop going in case they see a nipple?

Sorry tjp I disagree my overzealous righteous friend.

I can not see the pleasure in posting content to get voted down and then have my morality judge by you.

Time for a lumra break I think.

2008-06-26 12:35:23 EST

How can we get more users on here tjp? Its bit of a ghost time at the moment and we need freshhhhh blooooood, so to speak. The regulars are great, but what if we all died?!?!?!?

2008-06-26 12:16:15 EST

Aaaaand some of the pictures are back @ snaps. I didn't agree most of btz's recommendations, I don't think those are family safe pictures.

2008-06-08 14:27:28 EST

sorry folks, I'm a little bit behind, I'll catch up by tomorrow.

2008-06-08 14:17:30 EST

Come on then tjp, whats your end plan here? Put our, your loyal followers, minds at rest....

2008-06-08 12:04:46 EST

this change is poop. seemingly unnecessary and handled wayyy too fast.

2008-06-08 10:36:01 EST

yes, I have too, zeus

2008-06-07 15:38:36 EST

I'm sure tjp knows what he's doing though btz...

ahem

AHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAAAA

2008-06-07 13:18:36 EST

Yep

2008-06-07 12:54:38 EST

Has anyone noticed the drop in conversation and interaction since the latest changes?

2008-06-06 14:27:27 EST

To save me some time, why don't you just take everything with the name "SeaFox" on it, and move it back to "Classic Snaps"! :)

2008-06-06 08:58:53 EST

I'll disagree with Rooney_on_Ronaldo, the others are quite suitable for work.

There in lies the crux of the controversy, blazius thinks a severed head is safe, where as tjp thinks Jesus Christ lounging in his recliner is not. lol

2008-06-05 23:47:36 EST

back to snaps. Don't delete it this time ;)

http://nsfw.lumra.com/~Bocephus

2008-06-05 20:30:45 EST

Well that's one way to get them off NSFW.

I won't argue with your reasoning if you say this is where it belongs. But why did you move http://nsfw.lumra.com/~The_Little_Girl_Who_Lives_Down_the_Lane ?

It's a non-sexual picture of Jody Foster with the caption being one of her movies.

2008-06-05 17:32:51 EST

yes you have :S
